Corsham's Cafe For Tibet! Everyone Welcome!
Cafe Momo opens through the Winter serving Soups and light lunches, hot drinks and deeeelicious cakes along with the chilled out live music from Bath guitarist Ben Powell.
We're here to raise awareness of Tibet and there is usually a campaign running on Cafe days - sometimes a speaker or a film later in the day. Today we host Nyima from Frome who will give a talk about his life from monastery to the UK and give a demonstration of Tibetan Singing Bowls.
Since 1959 Tibet has been under China's brutal occupation in the name of 'making life better' for Tibetans but monasteries have been demolished, 2.3 million Tibetan Nomads have been removed from the grasslands and many Tibetans still suffer torture and imprisonment without trail or simply go missing due to protecting their peaceful culture.
Currently Tibet hosts the largest seat of learning in the World - Larung Gar - it is being demolished by the Chinese government and it's inhabitants 're-educated'.
Just come along and have a cuppa and you'll be helping Tibet! Or stay a while and get involved. We'd love to meet you!
