Househunters could turn their dream home into a reality if they attend a Help to Buy weekend being hosted by a regional builder later this month.

Persimmon Homes South Coast is holding events at the St Peter’s Place development in Fugglestone Red and Dukes Meadow in Tangmere on September 30 and October 1 (11am to 6pm).

Information about the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme will be available to prospective purchasers looking for a home that will be ready to move into before Christmas, with Independent Financial Advisors on hand to discuss buying options.

Help to Buy enables people to purchase a new build with only a five per cent deposit along with a 75 per cent mortgage while the Government supplies a 20 per cent equity loan, which is interest and repayment free for the first five years.

Graeme Cole, head of sales for Persimmon Homes South Coast, said: “First-time buyers find the scheme especially useful to take that first step onto the property ladder, as many of them fear they will never raise a huge deposit.

“People can so easily become trapped in the rental market, paying out large monthly amounts that leave little scope to raise the deposit they need to buy their own home. Help to Buy has opened the doors for buyers desperate to buy their own home and live somewhere that is truly theirs.

“It has also proved invaluable for growing families who need that extra bedroom and space and, used alongside our Home Change scheme, it is ideal for anyone with an existing home to sell.

“Buyers reserving certain plots should be in for Christmas too. Our sales advisors will be on hand to give people any information they need.”

Under Home Change, which can be used in conjunction with Help to Buy, Persimmon use all their expertise and contacts to help sell the buyer’s current home. They arrange valuations, agree a price and then market the property on behalf of the customer, saving time and money on estate agent fees.
